Phonak Hearing Aids
Advanced hearing technology designed for real life
Phonak is a Swiss hearing technology company with a long history of developing innovative solutions for different hearing needs. Its latest Infinio Ultra generation combines artificial intelligence, automatic environmental adaptation, rechargeable convenience and universal Bluetooth® connectivity.
The current Infinio family includes the Audéo Infinio Ultra R, Audéo Infinio Ultra Sphere and custom-made Virto R Infinio. Although they share the same advanced platform, each model is designed for a different wearing preference and listening lifestyle.
At Hearing First Audiology, we independently assess your hearing, communication needs, ear anatomy and daily listening environments before recommending the most suitable Phonak model and technology level.
The latest Phonak Infinio Ultra platform
The Infinio Ultra platform is designed to provide clearer, more comfortable hearing as you move between quiet conversations, traffic, television, music, family gatherings and busy social environments.
At the heart of the platform is AutoSense OS™ 7.0, Phonak’s latest automatic operating system. Using AI-trained sound classification, it continuously analyses the surrounding sound environment and automatically selects and blends the appropriate hearing features.
AutoSense OS 7.0 was trained using substantially more sound environments than the previous generation, allowing the hearing aids to identify listening situations and adapt with greater precision. Phonak states that it can adapt 24% more precisely to listening situations. Phonak Australia

Phonak Audéo Infinio Ultra Sphere
Any voice. Any direction. Greater clarity in noise.
Audéo Infinio Ultra Sphere is Phonak’s most advanced receiver-in-canal hearing aid for people who place a high priority on understanding conversation in complex and noisy environments.
In addition to Phonak’s main ERA sound-processing chip, Sphere uses a dedicated artificial-intelligence chip called DEEPSONIC™. This second chip is designed specifically to separate speech from surrounding noise in real time.
Spheric Speech Clarity 2.0
Traditional directional hearing-aid systems often focus primarily on a person speaking in front of the wearer. However, real conversations are rarely so predictable. Friends may be seated beside you, family members may speak from different directions, and several people may participate in the same conversation.
Spheric Speech Clarity 2.0 is designed to extract, enhance and integrate speech from multiple voices and directions while reducing competing noise. This can be particularly helpful in:
- Busy restaurants and cafés
- Family gatherings
- Community and social events
- Group conversations
- Meetings and conferences
- Shopping centres
- Noisy workplaces
- Conversations where speakers frequently change position
Phonak reports that the latest system can reduce listening effort and improve access to speech from different directions in challenging multi-talker environments. Individual results will vary according to the hearing loss, acoustic environment, fitting and personal listening needs. Phonak Australia

Ultra Sphere may be particularly suitable for people who:
- Frequently attend restaurants or group gatherings
- Need to follow several speakers around a table
- Work in changing or demanding acoustic environments
- Find background noise their greatest hearing challenge
- Want Phonak’s most advanced speech-in-noise processing
- Prefer rechargeable hearing aids with extensive connectivity
Because the Sphere model contains an additional AI processor, it is slightly larger than the standard Audéo Infinio Ultra R. Comfort, ear anatomy, dexterity, lifestyle and listening priorities should therefore be considered before making a decision.
Phonak Audéo Infinio Ultra R
Intelligent, adaptable hearing for everyday life
Audéo Infinio Ultra R is Phonak’s streamlined rechargeable receiver-in-canal hearing aid. It offers the latest AutoSense OS 7.0 platform, AI-trained environmental adaptation and universal connectivity in a smaller design than the Sphere model.

A higher technology level provides more sophisticated automatic programs and greater access to advanced speech and noise-management features. However, the highest level is not automatically the best choice for every person. The appropriate level depends on where you need to hear, your hearing profile and the benefit expected from each feature.
Phonak Virto R Infinio
Rechargeable technology, custom-crafted for your ears
Virto R Infinio brings Phonak’s Infinio technology into a custom-made in-the-ear design. Each hearing aid is manufactured from an impression or digital scan of the individual ear, allowing the shell, microphone position and acoustic characteristics to be personalised.
Unlike many traditional custom hearing aids, Virto R Infinio is rechargeable and supports universal Bluetooth connectivity.
RightFit™ customisation
Phonak’s RightFit™ approach combines ear anatomy, acoustic requirements and device components to create a hearing aid that is as compact and comfortable as the individual ear allows.
Its Biometric Calibration system uses approximately 1,600 points from the ear impression or scan to account for the unique acoustic characteristics of the wearer’s ear. This information assists the hearing aid in controlling microphone directionality more accurately.

The final size cannot be guaranteed before manufacture because it depends on ear-canal anatomy, required power, receiver size and the components needed inside the hearing aid.
Additional Phonak Infinio solutions
CROS Infinio
CROS Infinio is designed for people with an unaidable hearing loss in one ear and usable hearing in the other. A microphone worn on the poorer-hearing side transmits sound to an Infinio hearing aid worn on the better-hearing side.
A CROS or BiCROS recommendation requires comprehensive assessment to determine whether this arrangement is appropriate.
Virto I-10 NW O
Virto I-10 NW O is a very small, non-wireless, custom hearing aid powered by a size 10 disposable battery. It may be considered when discretion and compact size are more important than rechargeability or Bluetooth connectivity.
Virto I-Titanium
Virto I-Titanium uses a thin, medical-grade titanium shell. The strength of titanium can allow a smaller custom shell for suitable ears, although the final size still depends on anatomy and hearing requirements.
